Escorted by the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker and buoy tender Samuel Risley, the bulk carrier John D Leitch (Algoma) arrived in Owen Sound harbour early this morning. The 730′ Leitch joins two other Algoma ships current in the harbour. The Leitch along with the Algoway and the Olympic will remain in Owen Sound over the winter.
The Canadian Coast Guard Ship Samuel Risley arrived in port today to clear ice and make way for the arrival of the John D. Leitch (Algoma). Originally scheduled to arrive in Owen Sound earlier in the week, the Leitch’s arrival was delayed while the Risley was temporarily called away to the north channel of Lake Huron.
