About Us
Mapleseed Gallery started in 2002 as an online portfolio gallery displaying the works of Susan and Irwin Seidman. In 2010 the portfolio based virtual gallery expanded to include links to their eStore (which was revised on Etsy in 2012).
Today, the Mapleseed Gallery webspace continues to showcase their art and craft, and in addition to displaying a sampling of their work, it also includes information about up coming shows and exhibitions, where to find and purchase their work, general Mapleseed news and announcements, and information about their upcoming woodturning workshop courses.
Born in Montreal Quebec, Irwin has lived most of his life in Ontario and currently resides in Owen Sound. He started turning wood in 1995, and has been teaching the craft since 2003. Largely self-taught, Irwin looks to combine both art and function in the pieces he designs. Over the years Irwin has been a member of several local, regional, and international woodturning associations, and currently maintains a professional membership in the American Association of Woodturners. Examples of Irwin’s work can be found in shops, galleries and exhibits across North America, and in private collections worldwide. In addition to his woodturning experience, he is a graduate of the Centennial College Teacher of Adults program, and has previously taught Woodturning 101 for Lee Valley Tools Ltd in Toronto. Born and raised in Western Canada, Susan currently resides in Owen Sound. An accomplished musician and poet, she has over the past few years turned her artistic endeavours to painting. While not limited to specific topics or mediums, examples of her current works include interpretive watercolour landscapes and semi abstract acrylic streetscapes. Examples of Susan’s work can be found in shops, galleries and exhibits across North America, and in private collections worldwide.
